FTP 550 Error

FTP 550 errors (no permission) occur when documents are uploaded to folders without suitable owner permissions or indeed write permissions by your user.

The most common time this happens in Plesk is when a file is uploaded outside of the httpdocs directory (see the following guide for information):

Alternatively you may be attempting to upload to a legitimate folder inside httpdocs but the permissions on the folder are incorrect thus removing your ability to upload. You will receive an FTP 550 error.

In this situation you will need to check the CHMOD (permissions) on the folder itself by right clicking the folder in question and selecting "Info" or "Properties". Your FTP client may have slightly different wording at this point.

To avoid an FTP 550 error, you need to allow "Write" to the owner (you) at least in order to allow you to upload files to this directory.
